TERMINAL ILEUM & ASCENDING COLON - Intussusception

Description
This shows caecum and ascending colon, opened to display loops of small intestine; at the apex of the specimen, the small intestine can be seen entering the caecum through the ileo-caecal valve; the intestine within the colon is gangrenous, and the mucosa surface ulcerated. This specimen, from its size, is from an adult, and shows no obvious cause for the condition.
